Microsoft is in problems with their “light” tablets called Surface RT, they confessed they almost lost 1 billion dollars and that they over-produced a lot of them. To try to mitigate the problem they just lowered the price tag in USD 100 offering it at USD 349, unfortunately this wont probably work for them either.
Why the Windows Surface RT didn’t work
– Its confusing, people thought they could just run their Windows software on it, but they cant! Windows RT is a totally independent operating system, so standard Windows applications wont work on it. (more…)
Its been a while since I write about Microsoft, one of my last posts about the subject was “full of anger” when they released Windows 8 obligating user´s to use a touch designed OS with a keyboard and a mouse.
A company that spent millions of dollars to develop a product was so hungry to release a tablet friendly OS that forgot the fact that 99% of their corporate market uses a keyboard and a mouse. It is curious to see how the fastest growing company of the last years (Apple), was once saved by Microsoft 15 years ago back in 1997. At that time around June 1997 Apple shares where worth USD 3.5 now in 2012 they are worth around USD 700, doubling its overall market value in comparison to Microsoft and becoming the most valuable company in the world.
If you are interested to hear Steve Jobs talking nice about the “collaboration deal” with Microsoft that saved Apple at that time here is the video.
As you can see companies that in 2005 were “quiet”, now are screaming of success and others that where successful at that time now are having a lot of problems…
