How LinkedIn tricks you to invite people to their network

I use LinkedIn since several years, it allows you to connect your professional profile to a lot of people in millions of companies around the world. Depending on what you do, being and get connected in LinkedIn with all the people you’ve worked with and know professionally can open you doors in the present and in the future.

One thing LinkedIn does is to suggest you “People you may know” to add them to your own network, and its this spec which I am not so happy with.

Some weeks ago I checked my profile and added some contacts that I know, I was surprised they were on LinkedIn so I add them as suggested by the site. My surprise was when I received an email from them saying they don’t use LinkedIn at all, then I realized, LinkedIn was sending invitations to these contacts so they register in LinkedIn!!!

73486I purchased the latest MacBook Pro retina in November 2013, its the 15″ version which has two video cards on it, an Intel Iris and an Nvidia 750M if I recall correctly.
Its nice to have two video cards because you can do more graphic hungry stuff without having to use another computer, but there are times where you really need as much battery as possible, and you don’t want any application to trigger the power hungry Nvidia 750M. (more…)

Along my years of IT consulting I found that I was writing too many guides for users to resolve issues, but I was not compiling all these things in a central database for easy look up or reference when the issue repeats or is needed to forward it to a user.

Today I am launching Wiki.ITCentralPoint.com and I would like to invite every tech profiled reader of my blog to pro-actively add content to this Wiki. So we can easily reference them later whenever we need them.

heathrowSome days ago I started my holidays, and because I can’t really help myself not being improving processes during my trip, I decided to provide Arqiva the company behind the wifi service at Heathrow Terminal 5 with feedback about the strange behaviour of their service.

I connected 1 hour and a half for free to a network called “_Heathrow Wi-Fi”, after my free time was over I decided to purchase a 9 pounds plan for a 24 hours slot. (more…)

batteryWith the recent launch of iOS 7 a lot of new functions could suck up our precious battery from our iPhone, we prepared a list of things that you can do to maximize its performance. Check which things you really don’t use or need and consider disabling them to get as much as battery during your day.

I personally prefer to have a balanced power administration without limiting the devices great functions.
