Android the most sold, but iOS the most used

Android the most sold, but iOS the most used

Some days ago I wrote about Android´s biggest problem: their manufacturers today after watching the interview the guys at AllThingsD made to Tim Cook (Apple´s CEO) something he said kept she said something very interesting. Although the most mobile sold devices are using Android OS not all of them are being used as they are supposed to.

And it got me thinking, which are the stats from our own blog? Well, its interesting to see, iOS is by far the most used mobile platform to access ITCentralPoint.com (more…)

Windows to Apple, my switch after 17 years

Windows to Apple, my switch after 17 years

windows-to-mac-keyboardsI´ve been a Windows user all my life, since I started with Windows 3.11 up to now. I´ve seen good products like Windows XP and Windows 7 and I saw terrible products like Windows 98, Windows Millennium & Windows Vista. During a decade and a half I´ve set up my own computers, buying motherboard, processor, RAM, etc. and putting them together in a case. I´ve also been doing this for all type of costumers and I somehow keep on doing this  up to date. I provide IT Solutions. (more…)

MacBook Pro the best laptop to run Windows, yes, Windows

MacBook Pro the best laptop to run Windows, yes, Windows

The guys at Soluto, did a study where they demonstrated which were the most trustful laptops to run Windows. The big surprise is that the best one to run Windows is the Apple MacBook Pro 13″ from mid 2012.

The report was constructed based on 150.000 analyzed (laptops, netbooks & ultrabooks) between January 1st 2013 and April 1st 2013, considering 224,144 crashes and 84,251 blue-screens. Other things contemplated during the test were: applications hangs, boot times and number of background processes. The OS of these selected group of laptops had to be installed in the past 12 months and the models of the devices had to be currently sold too.

8 Reasons why Apple should support a mouse on the iPad

8 Reasons why Apple should support a mouse on the iPad

iPad-MouseThe following is a list of reasons on why Apple should support the use of a mouse on the iPad.

1) I already do a lot of things with the iPad. Several other things I wish to be able to do them with the iPad but I cant because using touchpad for them is really a pain.

2) Its really complicated to select a cell on an Excel sheet. OK, not Excel but any other spreadsheet App. I don’t want to zoom in to be able to correctly select the cell I want.

3) Using an RDP (Remote Desktop) or TeamViewer session with the touch interface is not comfortable at all. In the end you are trying to control a remote computer designed to work with a mouse, without it.  (more…)

Apple please allow us to change the IMG_ prefix in iOS

Apple please allow us to change the IMG_ prefix in iOS

Me and my girlfriend have iPhones & iPads (well technically I dont have an iPhone yet), that would be 4 devices. We bought the devices at the same time so the chances of picture names overlapping is preety high.

I use Windows and my girlfriend too, and when we have to download files from our devices into our folder structures (which we share on the network) then some overwrite could occur if we are not really paying enough attention at the Overwrite? question.

Apple event sum up: iPad Mini and refresh of Mac line

Apple event sum up: iPad Mini and refresh of Mac line

Yesterday Apple held an event to present new products and a refresh for the Mac´s. Unfortunately almost all the specks of the presented products have been leaked for months now so there were not so many surprises, but here they are:

iPad Mini and iPad 4
The new iPad Mini (now confirmed) comes to fight for a 7.9″ tablet market. The overall product is nice, its a mix of the iPad 2 and the iPad 3. It is really light (308 grams) & thin (7.2 mm) and comes with a 5MP iSight camera on the back plus a 720p camera on the front to take advantage of Facetime (this is something very good actually as the Nexus 7 doesn’t have a back camera). Also, as expected it has the new Lightning connector…
